Did you know that the greater majority of commercial health and fitness
clubs require a long-term contractual agreement that mandates a checking
account for them to debit each month? Well, what if you want to change gyms?
What if you are moving? Heck, what if you'd rather not give them access
to your social security number and checking account in the first place?
Here's some health and fitness news you can use! First, pay for your membership
in cash. Gyms crave cash. You'll save money in the long run, and can try
to broker a better deal since you're paying up front in cold hard cash.
Not only will this free you up from the health club's crazy gym contracts,
but your personal information is secured! Having a healthy and fitness-like
budget is great! Of most importance, you can pay the health & fitness
club in three-month installments, so if you ever want to cancel or go elsewhere
(or need a break from your fitness routine), it's no sweat!
With school coming to an end all across the country and summer vacation beginning, thousands of school children will be facing a change in their daily routines. For many of them, activity filled school days will be exchanged for sedentary hours in front of television sets and computers, snacking on sweets and junk food instead of eating nutritious meals. These children are examples of the explosion of overweight young people, described by health officials as an epidemic of obesity. According to statistics, at least 15% of children and adolescents are overweight, a proportion that has doubled since their parents were young.
The reasons are fairly obvious: they don't eat healthy meals; they eat too much calorie and fat-laden junk food; and they don't get enough exercise. For the most part, parents are aware of the problem. Therefore, they can be part of the solution. Because kids frequently mimic their parents' behavior, parents need to provide examples to their children of healthy eating and maintaining an active lifestyle. There's more than just being an example, though. Parents can exercise their authority by limiting sedentary activities such as watching TV and using the computer. There are lots of summertime activities available, like summer jobs, doing volunteer work, outdoor sports, and going to camp.
